WFP Regional Bureau for the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe (RBC, based in Cairo, Egypt) provides strategic guidance, policy/technical support and direction to WFP operations and activities in 17 countries: Algeria, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kyrgyz Republic, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, State of Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkey, and Yemen. Embracing two macro-regions, the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (CIS) regions, the WFP Regional Bureau Cairo (RBC) oversees a vast area with some of the most critical humanitarian emergencies of our time.

JOB PURPOSE
The Partnerships unit provides tailored support that helps senior management attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions that advance the work of WFP and support member states in the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (including Zero Hunger).
The Government Partnerships Intern will work in the Partnerships Unit of the Regional Bureau in Cairo (RBC), which covers the Middle East, North Africa and CIS regions. The RBC Partnerships Unit facilitates the work of senior staff at the Regional Bureau and country offices in their efforts to effectively position WFP with public, private and external partners.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
1.    Conduct research on donor policies and trends and mapping of opportunities, based on internal and external materials to support in defining partnerships and fundraising strategies. This includes thematic priorities as defined by the Partnerships unit;  2.    Assist in preparation of briefing documents, presentations and short biographies for meetings and conferences with donor counterparts; 3.    Support knowledge and information management, devising a system to manage and streamline various workstreams of the units; 4.    Assist in the implementation of a global forecasting exercise, in coordination with country offices in the region. 5.    Assist in reviewing and recording donor intelligence on WFP corporate platform. 6.    Update donor contribution tables and graphs using relevant data; 7.    Take notes for the record during internal and external meetings; 8.    Provide support in the planning and organization of the regional workshops; 9.    Perform any other related duties as required.
STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Currently enrolled in graduate-level courses or recent graduates (within 6 months of graduation) from a Bachelor or Master program.
Preferred field of study: International Affairs, Development/Humanitarian Studies, Social Sciences, or other related disciplines.
Knowledge & Skills:
The incumbent should have the following skills and experience:
•    Awareness of socio-political contexts, country-specific focus areas and partner interest areas and activities. •    Proven ability to synthesize information and communicate it simply and effectively: superior writing and research skills; Strong analytical skills; Excellent written and oral communication skills. •    Proven ability to operate in a diplomatic environment, using tact and judgment. •    Experience in negotiation and advocacy an asset. •    Understanding of WFP mandate is a must, previous experience working with a UN or Humanitarian Agency is an asset.  •    Knowledge of office computer systems (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and internet research.
Languages:
Advanced working knowledge in the English language (proficiency/level C).
Intermediate knowledge (intermediate/level B) of a second official language; Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP working language.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Internship Duration: 3 months with possibility of extension
Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP to cover basic subsistence costs.
WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas, and related costs.
Depending on the duty station of assignment, WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
WFP will recognize candidates educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education;
