BBC Arabic is the largest of the BBCs forty language services providing news current affairs and programmes on TV Radio Digital and Social Media to our Arabic speaking audiences in the Middle East Gulf and across the world 24 hours per day seven days a week.

This job will be based in the BBC Cairo Bureau in Egypt and will be on local [Egyptian] terms and conditions of employment.
Role Responsibility
As the Assistant Editor you will plan and organize the daily and long-term Newsgathering plans from BBC Cairo Bureau in close coordination with the Planning and Newsgathering teams in London keeping them updated with any major developments in the media scene in Egypt. You will maximize impact and diversify content including but not limited to political cultural social and humanitarian events and developments and put into practice BBC policies on diversity and inclusion. It will be important to ensure that Arabic content from Egypt appeals to all audiences but in particular ensures our output is enjoyed by our female audiences and young people. Are you the right candidate?
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable and credible experience in broadcast or digital journalism with outstanding Arabic and English language skills. You will have an excellent understanding and working knowledge of digital video techniques and social media broadcasting with independent and balanced editorial judgement. To be successful you will have a good knowledge of the output of the World Service and its aims and objectives and the programme needs of other parts of the BBC
