ABOUT WFP
The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) assume a substantial role for public sector business and its ability to make a major contribution towards their achievement. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development gives business a significant role to play in efforts to achieve the SDGs, based on their ability to invest and innovate in a sustainable way. Achieving the SDGs requires collective action, shared responsibility and financing from multiple sources, especially of the public sector financial institutions.
To achieve the ambitious plan of sustaining all the strategic interventions of Egypt WFP CO, the public-sector contribution should improve and strengthens long-term partnerships with financial institutions, companies, foundations and high-net worth individuals. This includes leveraging the capacities of this segment to build long lasting partnerships that goes beyond resources but expands to leaving a mark to future development visions of the country.
ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
These jobs are found in Headquarters (HQ), Regional Bureaux (RBs) and Country Offices (COs). Job holders in the field report to the Regional/Country Director or the designate, and in HQ report to the Team Leader or the designate. Job holders typically operate across an assigned area. They work independently, using technical knowledge and experience to analyse data, provide advice, and identify opportunities to increase fundraising and make process improvements.
JOB PURPOSE
Drive WFP effective positioning with public, private and external partners to attract policy support, resources, technical assistance and innovative solutions to advance the work of WFP, while supporting member states in the achievement of the SDGs and Zero Hunger and emphasizing WFP contributions in this regard.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)
Lead the implementation of a work plan for an assigned area to enable WFP to identify, develop and strengthen quality partnerships in support of WFP strategic objectives.
Engage with other functional units, RBs and COs on WFP thematic, regional and country-specific offerings, developing content and language that speak to individual audiences and align with on-going policy dialogue in national and global fora; Support alignment of partner engagement across the organization.
Proactively support a wide range of aspects of a partnerships portfolio, including partner profiling, data/trends analysis and outreach plan, to maximize resources and leverage policy and technical support for WFP work; Ensure partner visibility and that partner conditions are met.
Facilitate corporate dialogue with partners through preparation of quality briefing materials; Proactively highlight strategic opportunities and issues to senior management and propose options for the best course of action to nurture trust and interest in the work of WFP; Support the preparation of joint events (e.g. UN pledging conferences) that can advance WFP interests and objectives.
Gather and share partner intelligence (including forecasting), using key information systems (e.g. WINGS, Salesforce, WFPGo), and asses results.
Support functional units, RBs and COs on partnership strategies (including the development of Partnership Action Plans); Extend support on partnership/contribution management, in line with corporate norms, processes and legal agreements, on quality proposal and report writing by engaging with other WFP entities and external stakeholders.
Facilitate partnership growth, by exploring opportunities to expand existing partnerships and scope of new partners, guided by assessments, analysis and due diligence; Present recommendations to senior management and ensure follow-up.
Additional Accountabilities
Contribute to the preparation of partnership proposals, strategic agreements, joint strategies and/or MOU, taking into account corporate norms, processes and external regulations; Ensure quality control of content by engaging with relevant functional units, RBs and COs.
Use socio-political insights to support WFP effective positioning vis-à-vis national governments, regional and international institutions with the aim to influence the policy agenda.
In the context of the UN system and multilateral fora, support the development of partnerships with member states, civil society and intergovernmental organizations to advocate for the SDGs and Zero Hunger on the global agenda, and advance WFP priorities and policies, based on a good understanding of member states dynamics and interests.
Solicit inputs from other WFP entities that contribute to inter-governmental/inter-agency work to ensure that WFP positions are properly explained and taken into account in decision making.
Manage staff, providing coaching, training and guidance to ensure appropriate development and enable high performance.
Take responsibility for incorporating gender perspectives in all areas of work to ensure equal participation of women and men.
Contribute to preparedness actions, providing technical recommendations and guidance; Monitor defined risks and make recommendations how to manage these effectively.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Advanced University degree in Political Science, International Development, Development Economics, International Relations, Law, Marketing, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Experience: At least 10 years of professional work experience in a similar position in the Partnerships Field
Languages: Excellent spoken and written English and Arabic
FUNCTIONAL CAPABILITIES
Relationship Management : Demonstrates ability to formulate and maintain strong relationships and develop networks with appropriate stakeholders. Leads in implementing identified strategy to raise the profile of WFP, build relationships and further organisational aims.
Communication Expertise: Facilitates and contributes to open verbal or written communication with stakeholders as required (i.e. through preparation of targeted written or visual communications materials, presentations, and official documentation) to convey tailored messages. Engages in mutually informative discussion with partners and influencers.
Information Analytics, Reporting & Management: Demonstrates ability to conceptualise impactful means for reporting outcomes of multilateral/interagency dialogues to facilitate decision-making. Utilises partnership information and analysis to form insights which support fact based discussion for enhanced partner relationships, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement. Maintains, manages and analyses information in appropriate WFP systems.
Resource Mobilisation: Demonstrates the ability to design and manage the full resource mobilisation lifecycle, including negotiating with partners and key stakeholders, providing resourcing advice and briefs to senior managers, leading medium/large teams and strategically allocating material and other appropriate resources.
Business Process Support & Technical Guidance: Provides advanced technical support to other business areas. Troubleshoots complex system issues and contributes to the design and implementation of system changes. Provides input into the training and support strategy for technical systems users. Demonstrates managerial skills in leading medium/large teams in the delivery of support and technical guidance.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE FOR ENTRY INTO ROLE
Has gained experience in using technology and digital tools for data collection, analysis and shared data-based insights to add value to all partnerships.
Has provided input into training and support strategy for technical systems users and provided advanced technical support.
Has experience in managing a team and Has motivated team spirit and contributed to a gender-balanced, inclusive and sound working environment.
Has a good understanding of government and corporate strategies and priorities and gained experience in developing multi-stakeholder partnerships.
Has gained significance experience in exploring new opportunities and providing inputs to design and develop solutions with prospective partners.
Has developed long-term partner relationships and expanded engagements across geographies and sector.
Has designed and managed all resource mobilization processes and resource strategies, negotiated contract terms and provided resourcing advice to seniors.
Has used understanding of partner focus areas and knowledge of internal capabilities to create a Unique Value Proposition for the partners.
