Role Purpose
The Country Head of Securities is responsible for all facets of the Securities Services business in country. The role holder owns and drives the business agenda aligning the Securities Services strategy and ambitions with the wider priorities of the country.
Being the ambassador of the Securities Services business in that country the Country Head should enhance the Securities Services profile within HSBC as well as in the external local market. This would include market advocacy engagement with regulators and market infrastructure to drive market changes enhancement of industry standards alignment with international and best practices foreign investor access etc. The ability to engage influence challenge disrupt and drive forward the country market industry regulatory and client dynamic is central to this role
The Country Head has to be a matrix navigator who collaborates, consults and influences a host of on-shore and off-shore stake-holders ranging from Securities Services sector and functions to country management
Key Accountabilities
Define and periodically refresh the Securities Services country strategy
Identify and factor the local intel market industry and regulatory developments trends and client feedback into the strategy
Lead guide and actively manage/develop all Securities Services business activities in line with the country strategy and within the agreed global objectives of the Securities Services business
Lead the revenue and cost management discipline for the country. Agree AOP targets in collaboration and alignment with Sector functions and country management.
Accountable for resource and budget management at the country level.
Support organic and inorganic growth opportunities as required
In collaboration with sector formalise the marketing / client relationship / visitation / market advocacy plans for the year. Ensure these feed into and are aligned with the client plans owned by Global
Banking (GB) / Commercial
Banking (CMB) coverage country teams
Develop and maintain relationships with key senior individuals in relevant industry bodies client and potential client organisation competitor organisations and appropriate other third parties such as regulators and market participants
Develop the Securities Services media profile appropriately with sales and marketing
Enhance the profile / understanding of Securities Services in other businesses (such as GB GM CMB) to support revenue opportunities
Ensure Securities Services plays a prominent role in market advocacy market infrastructure change initiatives including appropriate representation on relevant industry bodies
Provide motivational leadership to what is a very people intensive business
Own drive and influence the people agenda for all the Securities Services staff in the country covering Performance Cultural Talent Management and Development Diversity and Inclusion Speak-up and other relevant initiatives
Be accountable for the people strategy to ensure that we have the right talent and resources to achieve the business ambitions.
In sync with local developments / trends and client feedback collaborate with Sector and Product to define and agree the Product and Technology Roadmap for the country
Take accountability for execution of the agreed product initiatives. Actively govern the progress and provide constructive challenge / support to change requests
Support the deployment of effective and sustainable operating models to meet the highest standard demanded by clients across sectors.
Foster a culture that supports high awareness and compliance with relevant internal and external rules regulations and procedures specifically HSBC

Knowledge & Experience / Qualifications
Experience in leading and managing a Securities Services business or other relevant leadership experience.
Experience in all aspects of Business management including people development client management business planning financials and risk management.
Knowledge of Securities Services products and operational processes and target client base relevant to country
Collaborative approach to working in a matrix environment involving product and sector heads support functions and local HSBC structures

Good communicator both verbally and in writing
Able to work in a pressurized environment and manage priorities effectively and be a good team player at the same time
