Job Purpose
The Medical Advisor (MA) provide a promotional and non-promotional activity medical support that helps to ensure the safe and effective use of GSK’s medicines through effective scientific interactions with external experts and to provide scientific support for GSK internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide product and disease area information to external customers. This need is met primarily through direct scientific interactions with key external experts (KEEs) and Healthcare providers (HCPs) including data presentations and responding to enquiries.
The MA is the scientific expert in the disease/therapy area(s) clinical practice and competitor landscape. Through his/her expertise and external interactions he/she will develop insights which will assist in the development and execution of innovative Medical Affairs strategies and plans that clearly add value for the patients.
The activities of the MA must all times reflect the medical nature of the role be fair balanced updated scientific and evidence based. MA must ensure full compliance with GSK Code SOPs and local laws & regulations for all country medical and promotional activities in line with the principles of code of practice.
MA would manage the field activities in the Therapy Area in coordination with the Medical Manager in the following fields of responsibility:
Implement the strategic directions and all field-based medical activities required for successful commercialization of the Therapy Area product portfolio within the Egyptian market aiming to achieve company objectives.
Provide the necessary support to Marketing and Sales departments and other internal stakeholders for the Product Portfolio.
Establish GSK as a key player in the Therapy Area and enhance the scientific image of GSK among Healthcare Professionals and key external experts To support governing the ethical practices of all promotional and marketing activities in the Therapy Area with the aim to foster the ethical and scientific image of GSK as a leading pharmaceutical company.
Provide support promotional activities and implement non-promotional activities for GSK EGYPT Therapy Area from a Scientific/Medical perspective.
Work with the internal stakeholders to understand who the External Experts are professional groups decision makers and other key stakeholders are in their assigned therapy area and / or geography.
Together with others in Medical and LOC team construct and implement effective Medical Affairs strategy & tactical execution.
Conduct training as needed with to the GSK sales representatives regarding GSK products and the conditions they treat utilizing approved Sales Training materials.
MA uphold GSKs commitment to the values of patient focus transparency and integrity in all interaction and exchange of information between GSK and external communities.
Conducts peer-to-peer robust scientific dialogue with external experts (eg. HCPs Payer Patient groups)
selected according to their relevant experience and uses this to generate insights and secure advice that informs GSK development of medicines of value for the ultimate benefit of patients.
The MA will be involved in ad hoc unplanned scientific discussions with HCP / External Experts where there is no pre-determined intent to gain advice and MA does not initiate discussion of pre-authorisation or off-label information.
Responds in a timely and accurate manner to unsolicited requests for on or off-label information or safety concerns from HCPs.
Delivers scientific presentation to HCPs within the scope of the disease area knowledge.
Facilitates presents at or otherwise participates in GSK non-promotional activities.
Education And Experience
Knowledge/ Education / Previous Experience Required:
Bachelors degree in life science faculty.
Postgraduate study (Master Degree or Diploma) in the relevant TA and or Business degree is an advantage.
3 years Experience within Pharmaceutical Industry or extensive comparable clinical experience in the relevant therapy area is a prerequisite.
Local experience in the Egyptian market.
2 years Medical Affairs or Clinical Research experience is a must.
Essential Skills And Abilities
Excellent communication and presentation skills with excellent command of the English language and must be able to communicate with all stakeholders: GSK staff Key External Experts Investigators regulators/government officials medical societies & organizations and other HCPs working in the therapy area.
Flexibility working in multidimensional and diverse philosophy environment.
Committed dedicated and have time management skills.
Self-motivated proactive have a positive team spirit approach to work.
Demonstrates a high level in building professional relationships and sense of personal motivation and drive.
Experience in the preparation & delivery of effective scientific presentations with good public speaking skills in front of the medical audience (speaking at scientific educational events congresses).
Ability to analyze represent and discuss scientific data in the therapeutic area with external and internal partners.
High level of discipline ability to organize the activity and to reasonably use the working time within the established independence limits.
Strong interpersonal and networking skills with ability to build and maintain relationships at all levels of GSK and external stakeholders.
Knowledge of key policy issues facing GSK.
