Role Description:Support the bank's retail credit management functions by overseeing and improving credit policies and procedures in the area of portfolio management. You will play a key role in establishing, monitoring, evaluating, and developing credit strategies that balance risk and profitability, ensuring healthy portfolio performance.
Core Responsibilities:•Manage changes in credit risk control and assessment processes to ensure they meet business needs and are fit for purpose, providing guidance to branches and business lines on retail credit risk policies.•Assist in designing new credit policies for Consumer Finance and Retail Digital Products, working with the IT team to implement and test required changes, while periodically monitoring system performance to ensure consistency.•Document risk management policies and procedures in the Risk Management credit policy manual and maintain the product policy calendar to track changes in lending frameworks and policy rules.•Provide inputs for retail credit risk packs (e.g., PQR, BRCC) and work on ad-hoc projects related to retail credit policies, studying retail limit and deviation cases before seeking Retail Credit Risk Head approval.•Participate in the formulation, implementation, and review of Application & Behavior scorecards for retail digital products and conduct post-implementation reviews (PIR) to assess the effectiveness of credit tests and policy changes.•Monitor the performance of the credit book against risk benchmarks, investigate breaches, report findings to senior management, and help set standard processes to avoid potential losses and incremental provisions.•Collaborate with Product and Assessment teams to improve approval rates and manage rejected applications, while conducting market studies for consumer finance and retail digital products to inform policy changes.•Ensure compliance with CBE regulations and BM policies, conducting conformance reviews, internal audits, and regulatory inspections, and addressing any findings to maintain adherence to credit policies.•Work with product and IT teams to ensure credit and core banking systems are aligned with business needs, mitigating potential credit or operational risks, and monitoring data quality and underwriting decisions for compliance with the delegation matrix.
Technical Competencies:•Strong analytical and decision making skills required to drive portfolio growth without compromising on risk.•Good knowledge of consumer finance and digital banking credit analysis methods, systems requirements and processes.•Background in consumer banking services.•Good knowledge of Retail Credit Standards and policies.
Domain Expertise:•Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or statistics from accredited university.•Minimum 11 years, including 3 years in a leadership position, statistics, data analysis and finance.•Good knowledge of local regulations & CBE guidelines for credit lending.•Good knowledge of the bank’s customer service standards.
