Job Description
Job Summary:
The Shift Engineer provides 24/7 oversight of the hospital's engineering systems. This includes monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting and resolving problems, performing routine maintenance tasks, and coordinating repairs with internal and external resources.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Monitor and operate various building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire alarm, and medical gas systems
- Conduct routine inspections of facilities and equipment to identify potential problems
- Respond to emergency calls for equipment malfunction, leaks, or other facility issues
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment problems, implementing solutions or escalating issues as needed.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules
- Coordinate repairs with maintenance staff, vendors, and contractors
- Document all activities, including readings, observations, actions taken, and communication logs
Job Requirements
Education: Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or a related field is preferred
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
Training:
- Training on specific equipment and systems used at the facility.
- Understanding of safety protocols and operational procedures
Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
