The Supply Chain Management (SCM) course by ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business provides a comprehensive introduction to the end-to-end processes of modern supply chains. Students begin by understanding what supply chain management is, its objectives, and how it connects suppliers, manufacturers, distributors, and customers.
The course is structured in 10 modules, starting with procurement (“Buy It”), followed by manufacturing and operations (“Make It”), transportation and logistics (“Move It”), and retail/service considerations (“Sell it & Service It”). Students then explore supply chain integration, global supply chains, and the importance of socially responsible SCM practices.
The final modules focus on business processes and measuring performance, teaching learners how to evaluate efficiency, reduce costs, and optimize the supply chain network. By the end of the course, learners gain practical knowledge to design, manage, and improve supply chains, making informed decisions that balance cost, efficiency, and sustainability.
This course is ideal for supply chain professionals, operations managers, and business students looking to deepen their knowledge of supply chain management principles and practices.
