A foundational course linking social work ethics, group development, trauma-informed practice, and psychodrama theory.
عن الدورة

This course introduces core principles that shape ethical, effective social work practice, with a strong focus on group work, trauma-informed care, and psychodrama theory. Learners begin with the NASW Code of Ethics, exploring social work’s six core values and how they guide professional decision-making and practice across settings.

The course examines group work phases of development, helping learners understand how groups form, grow, and function over time. It also introduces the three key stages of trauma therapy—safety, trauma processing, and integration—providing a framework for ethical and responsible trauma-informed practice.

Psychodrama and sociometry theories are explored as complementary approaches within social work, grounded in the philosophy and history of Jacob Moreno. Learners will understand key concepts such as spontaneity, roles, action theory, social atoms, sociograms, and social networks, and how these tools support deeper engagement and healing in group settings.

By connecting ethical standards, historical foundations, and theoretical frameworks, this course equips students and practitioners with a holistic understanding of social work with groups. It is ideal for social work students, counselors, therapists, and professionals seeking to strengthen their theoretical base and apply ethical, trauma-aware approaches in practice.
