Job description
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Drilling / Intervention Tools Design Engineer to join our engineering team based in JLT, Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and commercialization of next generation drilling and intervention tools for global deployment in the oil and gas industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the concept design and detailed engineering of drilling and well intervention tools.
- Develop 3D models, manufacturing drawings, and assembly documentation using industry-standard CAD software.
- Conduct engineering analyses including FEA, materials selection, tolerance stack-ups, and failure assessments.
- Collaborate with internal teams and vendors for prototyping, testing, and tool qualification.
- Support field operations with design insights and performance troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with API/ISO standards and relevant industry codes.
- Contribute to the intellectual property strategy, including patents and technical documentation.
Skills
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically in downhole tool design (drilling, completions, or intervention).
- Proven track record in delivering engineered products from concept to commercialization.
- Proficiency in CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor) and FEA tools.
- Strong knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes for oilfield components.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Must have legal rights to work in the UAE (UAE residency or sponsorship).
