Role Overview

One of our clients is leading an advanced AI research initiative focused on benchmarking and improving model performance across a wide range of machine learning tasks. They are seeking experienced Machine Learning Researchers, including PhD-level experts, for a remote, short-term engagement with flexible scheduling. This role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to frontier AI evaluation and research efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile and adapt external machine learning benchmarks and competitions into structured, real-world evaluation tasks
• Validate model implementations against original research plans and specifications
• Identify, document, and assess discrepancies in experimental results or methodologies
• Provide detailed, structured feedback to support benchmarking and model improvement efforts

Qualifications

• PhD in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or a closely related field, or significant professional experience in applied machine learning
• Strong understanding of machine learning research methodologies, experimental design, and evaluation practices
• Excellent analytical skills and clear technical writing ability
• Experience with reproducibility, benchmarking, or large-scale ML evaluation is preferred
• Ability to work independently and deliver high-quality results in a remote environment

Engagement Details

• Fully remote, independent contractor role
• Expected commitment: approximately 20–40 hours per week, with potential for increased hours based on project needs and performance
• Short-term engagement, with potential extension depending on outcomes and requirements

Compensation & Contract Terms
