We are seeking an experienced MES / Operational Technology (OT) Consultant

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and shop-floor operational technologies within the automotive industry, including deep integration with SAP and real-time production systems.

You will play a critical role in designing, integrating, and deploying MES and OT solutions that enable real-time production visibility, execution control, and seamless connectivity between shop-floor systems and SAP.

Key Responsibilities:

• MES / OT Implementation & Integration
• Lead the design and implementation of MES and OT solutions tailored for automotive manufacturing processes, including discrete manufacturing, assembly lines, and high-volume production environments.
• Integrate MES systems with SAP to enable real-time production reporting, confirmations, material consumption, and traceability.
• Support and integrate shop-floor systems, including PLCs, SCADA, and automation equipment.
• Design and support interfaces using industrial communication protocols (OPC UA, Modbus, Ethernet/IP and PROFINET) and API-based integrations.
• Business Process Analysis & Optimization
• Translate automotive manufacturing and shop-floor operational requirements into MES and OT functional specifications.
• Apply a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, the ISA-95 model, and industry-specific standards to ensure proper system alignment between ERP, MES, and shop-floor layers.
• Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, quality tracking, downtime analysis, and real-time visibility through MES solutions.
• Testing, Documentation & Training
• Develop and execute unit, integration, and user acceptance testing scenarios specific to MES applications and shop-floor operations.
• Prepare detailed functional specifications, interface documentation, and training materials for production, engineering, and IT teams.
• Conduct training sessions and support knowledge transfer to key business users and plant personnel.
• Go-Live & Post-Implementation Support
• Assist in cutover planning and provide go-live support for MES and OT solutions.
• Troubleshoot MES, integration, and shop-floor connectivity issues, support system stabilization, and recommend process enhancements post-implementation.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Systems, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience with MES and Operational Technology solutions, preferably with 2 years in the automotive manufacturing sector.
• Strong knowledge of industrial control systems (ICS), including PLCs and SCADA
• Proven experience supporting, developing, and configuring MES applications in a manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols such as OPC UA, Modbus, and Ethernet/IP and PROFINET as well as API-based interfaces.
• Understanding of IT networking principles (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls) and virtualization concepts is a plus.
• Proficiency in databases and programming languages such as SQL, Python, C#, or Java for data analysis and system integration.
• Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing processes, the ISA-95 model, and industry-specific standards.
