Job Description
Roles & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and maintain quality management systems, procedures and work instructions in line with company policy and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Lead and support daily quality activities on site, including in-process checks, final inspections and release decisions.
- Conduct root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA) and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolution.
- Manage non-conformance, deviation and CAPA processes, ensuring timely investigation, documentation and closure.
- Perform supplier quality assessments and support supplier development activities to improve component and ingredient quality.
- Support validation and qualification activities (process, equipment, cleaning, test methods) and maintain associated documentation.
- Maintain and analyse quality metrics (OEE-related quality KPIs, % defects, yield, customer complaints) and prepare regular reports for stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean Six Sigma or similar methodologies to reduce variability and waste.
- Coordinate product complaint investigations and liaise with customer service to ensure satisfactory resolution and root-cause prevention.
- Ensure compliance with food safety and regulatory standards applicable to the product portfolio (e.g., HACCP, BRC, ISO, local regulations).
- Provide training and coaching to production and quality teams on quality standards, inspection techniques and good manufacturing practice (GMP).
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in quality assurance or quality engineering within FMCG or food manufacturing environment.
- Practical knowledge of quality systems, audits, validation and CAPA processes.
- Experience with food safety standards (HACCP, BRC, IFS or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in data analysis and reporting (Excel, statistical tools).
- Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma or continuous improvement methodologies; relevant certification desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail, problem-solving mindset and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across functions and to present findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with lab management and test method development/validation.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for labelling, claims and traceability.
- Previous exposure to ERP or quality management software (QMS).
- Proactive, resilient and able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Desired Candidate Profile
