Roles and Responsibilities
- Conduct monthly actuarial valuations and technical reserve calculations for all Life Insurance lines by analyzing policy data, applying actuarial models, and ensuring alignment with applicable actuarial and accounting standards.
- Calculate Embedded Value and New Business Value for each line of business in alignment with Sanlam Allianz guidelines, supporting performance assessment and strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to monthly Sanlam Allianz reporting and deliverables, ensuring compliance with group standards to support accurate financial analysis and decision-making.
- Perform experience analyses (e.g., mortality, lapse, expense) to support the development and refinement of valuation assumptions.
- Assist in the development and validation of valuation models and underlying assumptions (e.g., mortality, lapse, expense), ensuring accuracy, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Prepare and analyze actuarial regulatory reports to ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements and Sanlam Allianz standards.
- Develop liability projections for quarterly Asset-Liability Management (ALM) exercises and monitor asset-liability positions across all funds to support financial stability and risk mitigation.
- Perform solvency calculations and capital adequacy assessments, including regulatory solvency ratios and risk-based capital metrics, to evaluate financial strength and risk exposure.
- Provide actuarial support for life insurance IT system developments by analyzing data requirements, validating system outputs, and addressing data discrepancies to improve accuracy and operational efficiency.
Pre-requisites (Education, Professional Experience and Competencies)

- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial sciences or a related field
- Pursuing Actuarial exams through the Institute & Faculty of Actuaries (UK) or the Society of Actuaries (USA) with key progress made in core technical subjects or their equivalent
