This hands-on robotics course guides beginners through building and programming the Elegoo Smart Car. Starting with an introduction to robotics, students learn the mechanical assembly of both the lower and upper decks of the smart car. The course then covers motor control fundamentals using the L298N module, programming core DC motor functions, and controlling motor speed for precise movement.
Calibration techniques are taught to ensure accurate distance, speed, and turning angles, including the use of linear regression for precise robotic turns. Students also learn to control the smart car using an infrared (IR) remote, programming travel distance and speed via the remote, and integrating the BLE Bluetooth module for wireless robotic control.
Sensor integration is a key focus, with lessons on using the HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to measure distances to obstacles. Advanced topics include obstacle detection and collision avoidance, enabling the smart car to navigate autonomously. Throughout the course, students apply theoretical knowledge with practical exercises, making it ideal for beginners and hobbyists interested in robotics and automation. By the end, learners can confidently design, program, and control robotic vehicles using motors, sensors, and remote communication technologies.
