Job Description
The Body in White Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for taking the lead role in development, launch, and operations sustenance of new Body in White production line equipment. This role requires understanding of product design, manufacturing assembly processes, and launch phase commissioning process, production operations, and quality systems.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead technical efforts of teams engaged in complex equipment engineering development
- Develop, review, and buy-off manufacturing process for new Body in White production line projects
- Work collaboratively with project team on all stages of Body in White line development from conception to launch
- Manage Production line buy-off at Vendor site for process, fixture, quality, joining, equipment, automation
- Manage & coordinate all cross-functional groups for onsite installation and commissioning phase of production line
- Prepare and procure all items for station readiness for Body in White line launches
- Able to work cross-functionally with all disciplines involved in specifying and engineering Body in White equipment
- Overview Launch execution planning, installation, and commissioning
- Develop and implement Body in White process quality control plans for all Body in White lines
- Participate in PFMEA and develop control and reaction plans for BIW Production
- Participate in Equipment and process continuous improvement for safety, efficiency & throughput optimization and cost reduction
- Utilize analytic problem-solving skills, including knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, DOE or similar certifications / disciplines to problem solve BIW Production issues for equipment and product quality
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering required
- 5+ years in Body in White Equipment / Manufacturing / Process Engineering
- Experience in the automotive Body in White equipment design/ Operations is a must
- Hands-on Experience with BIW related Equipment
- Ability to influence outcomes and drive initiatives in complex environments
- Possesses strong presentation skills and communicates clearly and professionally at various levels both inside and outside the company
