Job Purpose


Manage the Ocean Freight Operations, build strong relationships with clients to understand their shipping needs and ensure they receive excellent service.


Key responsibilities:


1-Client Management

  • Negotiate Contracts to secure the best rates and terms with shipping lines
  • Provide direction and guidance to a team of freight specialists.
  • Respond to client inquiries about ocean freight services, rates, and schedules on the basis daily.
  • Meet with clients to discuss their shipping needs and develop customized solutions on quarterly basis.
  • Provide updates on shipment status and address any client concerns on the daily/weekly basis.
  • Review client contracts and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met on monthly basis.


2-Operational Oversight

  • Oversee the booking of ocean freight with shipping lines, secure space, and negotiate rates & track shipments throughout the transportation process
  • Ensure they meet deadlines on daily basis.
  • Manage and monitor the preparation of shipping documentation (bills of lading, packing lists, etc. on weekly/monthly basis.
  • Analyze shipment data to identify cost-saving opportunities and process improvements & review carrier performance and negotiate better rates or service levels on monthly basis.
  • Conduct performance reviews for freight forwarding Operation team on monthly basis.
  • Monitor the department budget & compare it to the actual figures.


3-Strategic Development

  • Stay up to date on industry trends, news, and regulatory changes on monthly or quarterly basis.
  • Identify new business prospects in the ocean freight market on monthly basis.
  • Develop strategies to grow the company's client and service offerings on quarterly basis.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs): shipment times, costs, and cargo rates, as this data is essential to identify areas for improvement.


4-Other

  • Train and Develop newcomers for the ocean freight processes, and relevant software/system
  • Identify training opportunities for the existing team to enhance their skills and knowledge.


Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain or any related field
  • 7:10 years of experience in the same field or related supply chain
  • Strong experience in freight forwarding company in Egypt, with a proven track record of performing & managing air- & ocean freight operations
  • Knowledge of Ocean freight & international trade
  • In-depth knowledge of customs regulations and procedures
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and Negotiation skills
  • Fluency in Arabic & English (written & spoken)
