As part of its development, SMT Africa is currently looking for a Technical Support Coordinator for its subsidiary in Mali.

Experience with Hitachi brand is required.

Knowledge of mining and machinery is recommended.

Job Summary

To strengthen and fast-track the customer’s deliverables by providing technical support for the Hitachi equipment onsite, whilst maintaining a high level of professionalism.

Responsibilities and Tasks

• Monitoring of machine performance
• Matris download reports to be shared and discussed with the customer
• Machine vitals downloading, reporting, and recommendations
• Warranty repairs and reporting
• Warranty updates and campaigns
• Direct communication with the customer
• Assistance with the management and planning of repairs and component changeouts
• Preventive maintenance inspection
• Technical training and up-skilling for your technicians if required
• Oil sample interpretation
• Provide troubleshooting assistance and guide customers through problem-solving processes
• Generate reports on common technical issues and trends to aid in product improvement
• In collaboration with the SMT management update customers on the status of ongoing technical issues and resolutions
• Factory upgrade management - Implementation of mandatory and safety bulletins
• Assist with breakdown repairs ensuring minimal downtime

Experience

• 7-10 years’ experience in mining (or other related industries) and with Hitachi brand is required
• Technical understanding of key disciplines; mechanical/electrical systems, schematics, drawings, and manual interpretation
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Profiency in English, French is a plus
• Experience dealing with heavy equipment (Hitachi mining excavators)
• Customer-facing role experience - Excellent communication skills
