Qassim Science Center – Core Objectives:


The Qassim Science Center is envisioned as a landmark public science institution dedicated to inspiring curiosity, nurturing scientific thinking, and strengthening community engagement with science and innovation. The Center advances scientific literacy and informal learning through immersive exhibitions, interactive environments, festivals, educational programs, and experiential spaces that connect science, technology, and culture to everyday life. It serves students, families, educators, professionals, and visitors as a regional hub for discovery, learning, and scientific tourism.


Role Objective:


The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and strategic development of the Qassim Science Center. The role ensures that exhibitions, programs, festivals, and educational initiatives are intellectually rigorous, visitor-centered, operationally effective, and financially sustainable, positioning the Center as a leading science and learning institution with regional and international relevance.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Institutional Leadership & Strategic Direction

· Lead the Qassim Science Center as a mission-driven public science institution integrating education, culture, science communication, and community engagement.

· Shape and implement the Center’s long-term institutional vision, balancing educational quality, visitor appeal, public accessibility, and sustainability.

· Guide the Center through different stages of development and growth, ensuring adaptability, relevance, and organizational maturity.

· Align strategic priorities with national education, innovation, and cultural agendas while maintaining international best practices in science centers and museums.


2. Exhibitions & Visitor Experience Development

· Provide executive oversight of all permanent, temporary, and traveling exhibitions across indoor, outdoor, and specialized exhibition spaces.

· Ensure exhibit development is grounded in strong scientific narratives, interactive learning principles, accessibility, and inclusive design.

· Oversee the full exhibition lifecycle, including concept development, content planning, design, fabrication, installation, renewal, and evaluation.

· Ensure integrated and coherent visitor journeys across galleries, exhibition halls, planetarium, theaters, outdoor exhibits, and interactive learning zones.


3. Scientific Programming, Festivals & Public Events

· Lead the planning and delivery of scientific festivals, themed science seasons, public lectures, demonstrations, and large-scale engagement events.

· Ensure festivals and public programs effectively activate the Center’s theaters, exhibition halls, outdoor spaces, and multipurpose venues.

· Position science festivals and signature events as key public engagement platforms that enhance participation, visibility, and institutional reputation.

· Encourage interdisciplinary programming connecting science with culture, creativity, sustainability, and emerging technologies.


4. Education, Schools & Learning Pathways

· Oversee the development of structured school visit programs aligned with national curricula and defined learning outcomes.

· Ensure strong integration between exhibitions, workshops, academies, laboratories, and school engagement initiatives.

· Support the design and delivery of age-appropriate learning experiences for early childhood, school students, university learners, and lifelong learners.

· Strengthen the Center’s role as a trusted educational partner through curriculum-linked programs and educator engagement.


5. Training, Academies & Capacity Building

· Provide strategic oversight of scientific academies, training programs, and skill-development initiatives delivered by the Center.

· Ensure training offerings respond to future skills, STEM pathways, applied science learning, and workforce development needs.

· Support instructor development, content quality assurance, and continuous evaluation of learning outcomes.

· Position the Center as a platform for talent development in science education, science communication, and innovation.


6. Operations & Organizational Management

· Oversee all operational functions of the Center, including exhibitions, programs, facilities, visitor services, finance, and human resources.

· Ensure safe, efficient, and visitor-focused operations across all facilities and public-facing environments.

· Establish performance frameworks to assess program quality, visitor engagement, learning impact, and operational effectiveness.

· Drive continuous improvement in service standards and institutional performance.


7. Financial Sustainability & Resource Development

· Manage the Center’s financial sustainability through sound budgeting, diversified revenue streams, and responsible financial planning.

· Oversee income generation from admissions, educational programs, festivals, sponsorships, partnerships, retail operations, and venue utilization.

· Balance the Center’s public mission with financial discipline and commercial viability.

· Ensure transparent financial reporting and compliance with governance and regulatory requirements.


8. Partnerships, Governance & External Representation

· Represent the Qassim Science Center with public authorities, educational institutions, partners, and external stakeholders.

· Build and maintain partnerships with schools, universities, research institutions, cultural organizations, and the private sector.

· Work closely with governing and oversight bodies to support accountability, reporting, and strategic alignment.

· Strengthen the Center’s profile as a trusted public institution and a destination for scientific and educational tourism.


9. People, Culture & Institutional Development

· Build and lead a multidisciplinary team across science, education, exhibitions, operations, and visitor engagement.

· Foster an organizational culture rooted in curiosity, collaboration, professionalism, and public service.

· Support leadership development, talent retention, and institutional knowledge growth.

· Establish clear decision-making structures, accountability frameworks, and effective delegation across the organization.


Qualifications & Experience

Education:

· Bachelor’s degree in Management, Education, Science, Museum Studies, or a related field

· Master’s degree in Museum Studies, Science Communication, Education Leadership, or Cultural Management is preferred


Experience:

· Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in science centers, museums, cultural institutions, or large educational organizations

· Proven experience overseeing exhibitions, public programs, festivals, and educational initiatives

· Experience working with boards, public-sector stakeholders, and institutional partners
