Job Description

The Innovation Manager – Sensory Evaluation will lead the development and implementation of sensory evaluation strategies to support new product development, quality improvement, and consumer insights. This role bridges R&D, marketing, and production teams, ensuring that product sensory attributes align with brand positioning, consumer expectations, and market trends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and oversee sensory evaluation programs to support product innovation, reformulation, and quality monitoring.
  • Design and implement sensory testing methodologies, including descriptive analysis, discrimination tests, and consumer acceptance tests.
  • Manage internal and external sensory panels, including recruitment, training, and calibration of panelists.
  • Collaborate with R&D and product development teams to translate sensory insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Analyze and interpret sensory data, integrating results with market research and consumer feedback.
  • Lead cross-functional innovation projects, ensuring sensory attributes are optimized for target markets.
  • Stay updated on advancements in sensory science, testing technologies, and data analysis tools.
  • Work closely with quality assurance to ensure sensory quality standards are met for all products.
  • Present sensory evaluation results and recommendations to stakeholders, including senior management.
  • Manage budgets, timelines, and resources for sensory evaluation projects.


Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science,.
  • experience in sensory evaluation, ideally within the food, beverage, or FMCG industries.
  • Proven experience managing sensory panels and applying sensory methodologies in product innovation.
  • Strong statistical analysis skills and proficiency with sensory analysis software (e.g., Compusense, XLSTAT).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative, detail-oriented, and consumer-focused mindset.
