Role Purpose

The Mechanical Team Leader is responsible for leading a team of technicians and site personnel in the installation, execution, and maintenance of mechanical systems on a construction site. This role ensures that all mechanical works are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, safety standards, and within set timeframes.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of mechanical site teams (technicians, fitters, welders, etc.).
• Ensure proper installation of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, drainage, and firefighting.
• Interpret and implement mechanical drawings and specifications on site.
• Coordinate with engineers, supervisors, and other site disciplines to ensure smooth workflow and avoid conflicts.
• Ensure all mechanical work is carried out in compliance with project standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.
• Assist in planning daily tasks, allocating manpower, and monitoring progress.
• Inspect work and ensure it meets quality benchmarks before inspections or handovers.
• Report any delays, issues, or technical problems to site engineers or project management.
• Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are available and in good working condition.
• Conduct toolbox talks and enforce safety awareness among team members.
• Support testing, commissioning, and handover activities as required.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge & Skills

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
• 6+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical works within construction projects.
• Proven experience in leading site teams and supervising mechanical installations.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, materials, and installation techniques.
• Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
• Good communication, team leadership, and coordination skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and site instructions.
• Basic knowledge of MS Office and AutoCAD is a plus.
